Baguma Abel started teaching at Uganda polytechnic Kyambogo(UPK) in 1991 and later joined the Institute of teaching Education at Kyambogo University (ITEK) in February 1994 as an assistant lecturer. By the time of the merger to form Kyambogo University in 2003 was a lecturer of the Development studies.

I initiated the programme of Development Studies which started in 2005 and also wrote the curriculum for Political Science that started in the early 2000s.

My areas of specialisation are Political Economy, Politic of Alternative Development and Sustainable Development.
